Poets and Neglected Gods
		n Arab material culture, because of isolation and the environment, was not highly developed. n The main focus of creativity was in orally transmitted poetry. n Bedouin religion was a blend of animism and polytheism. n Some tribes recognized a supreme deity, Allah, but paid him little attention. n They instead focused on spirits associated with nature. n Religion and ethics were not connected. n In all, the Bedouin did not take their religion seriously.
