Mexico
Mexico is a awesome country with a very promising future. It's history is the richest in all of the America's. I have traveled to Mexico several times. My first trip was in 1991 to Cancun. In 2003, 2005, and 2008 we traveled to Cozumel, on a cruise ship. Our most memorable trip on the east coast was, in April of 2004 when I traveled to Chichen-Itza on the Yucatan Peninsula. In 2017, we finally traveled to Mexico's beautiful west coast, visiting Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta, and Cabo San Lucas.

Mexico’s early history was similar to that of the rest of the America’s, until the rise of the Olmec’s in Gulf Highlands. Olmec civilization dates back to 1400BCE. The Mayan Civilization was next, dating back to 300BCE and continuing until most of their cities were abandoned in the 9th Century CE. The Toltec ended up replacing the Mayans in many areas around 800CE. Toltec decline started well before the rise of the Aztec in 1325CE. The Aztec demise came mostly as a result of the Spanish Conquest in 1521. Mexico, soon after, became a colony of Spain and remained so until Father Miguel Hidalgo declared independence in 1810. Hidalgo was eventually captured and killed, but the insurgency would continue until Mexico finally gained its independence in 1821. Mexico’s first government was a Monarchy, but that was short lived, as Mexico became a struggling Republic in 1823. The 1800’s were not kind to Mexico as this period found the county consistently fighting dictatorship and discrimination against native peoples. It wasn’t until the end of the Mexican Revolution in 1920, that the country began to stabilize politically. Today, Mexico is a member of the G20 and its economic future looks promising.
